Sustainabe St Albans Festival 2019
This very local exhibition that will encompass aspects of local sustainability including: Health and Happiness, Equity and Local Economy, Culture and Community and Sustainable Materials. We aim to provide a creative journey locally by connecting local artists to local residents and visitors via the original artwork that is based on the City of St Albans itself.
MAJOR CRITERIA TO PARTICIPATE: MUST BE LOCAL (St Albans and surrounding areas) - the subject matter must be related to St Albans).
You MUST include full details of each artwork you are submitting (other work samples or actual intended submitted artwork) typed on the email.
PLEASE CHECK CAREFULLY THE DATES YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO TAKE PART IN, WITH CONSIDERATION OF SETTING UP AND PRIVATE VIEW AND COLLECTION AND TRANSPORT TO AND FROM THE GALLERY. ONCE CONFIRMED AND PAID YOUR EXHIBITION FEE IS NON_REFUNDABLE. IT IS UP TO ARTISTS TO BE AWARE OF THE DROP OFF DATES.
Miniature Art Exhibition
Tiny Tin Can is being organised and curated by Louise Gendrot. This really is for Miniatures. A tiny size of approx 8cm max has been set for the artwork/sculpture - there may be allowances for larger individual items that incorporate an installation or scene etc. Items must be artist created.

The gallery will chose and curate from the selection you have submitted. Depending on size and items selected the number of items may vary per artist.

Commission on sales is 25%
Please note, commission is only payable on sales. All art must be available for sale.
We try to be swift with our decision. Though please allow 7 days before contacting us again - if you're awaiting a response or reply, we are not ignoring you, we may simply be busy over some days. As we also run the gallery 7 days a week. The Gallery will contact successful applicants by return email and discuss the chosen items and will offer a slot in that exhibition. If the artists accepts - the gallery will send a PayPal invoice for the Exhibition fee which must be paid immediately. Please ensure the details you send and your website are up-to-date before you submit. Including any bio on your website. Please ensure you are aware of the drop off and collection dates.
Unfortunately we are unable to give feedback to unsuccessful applicants - if you are unsuccessful do not resubmit for the same exhibition with different art.
We will add participating artists to the events email list in order to share the publicity and invites to the event (which are mostly online). The gallery includes events within it's print and online material throughout the year. The exhibitions will be held at: Nude Tin Can Gallery, 125 Hatfield Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire AL1 4JS. Any additional marketing and costs involved are at the discretion of the gallery. You will accept the gallery will use your images for publicity and inclusion of an event. This will also include social media.
Clients love to meet artists at private views, please attend the private views you are exhibiting when possible. Refreshments for group/themed art exhibitions will be provided.
The gallery has an installed hanging system. All wall art is hung from adjustable hooks that can move up and down the wall. All wall art must be fitted with d-rings and picture wire. Nothing is screwed into our walls.
Picture wire must be professionally used - taught with no frayed wires protruding. Ensure wires and our hooks will not stick out at the top once your picture is hanging with its full weight.
(it does not mean we expect to exhibit artwork of this size, but we can)
Items larger than 90cm x 90cm must be delivered by the artists and all packing removed at the time of delivery (accept for a jiffy bag)
Electrics must be freshly PAT tested. We cannot exhibit any items with electrics unless they have been PAT tested.
All art, frames, sculptures and photography must be professionally presented and gallery ready. Sculptors will need to supply their own plinths if needed. Glass must be clean inside and out.
Participants must supply his or her own labeling. Simple white card/paper 12pt:

Your RRP must be consistant across all your outlets. We do not expect artists to add additional RRP or have varying studio prices and gallery prices, if we dont agree with your retail price, we may not accept your submission.
Artists are fully responsible for the delivery and collection of their art items to and from the gallery including their own insurance. Any artist delivering by courier is fully responsible and liable for their own arrangements, packaging and delivery to and from the gallery. The gallery is not responsible for arranging any courier or packing of your art items.
Artists are responsible for ensuring they have adequate insurance cover for their own items/artwork for the full duration of their time at the gallery and any transit involved to and from. The gallery will not be liable for any loss or damage to any item no matter how caused or by whom. Due to the varying nature of contemporary art, it is the artists full responsibility to have the appropriate cover for their own belongings including their artwork.
Please respect our time and allow us to run the exhibition efficiently. We expect participating artists to act and conduct themselves in a professional manner. We are happy to give feedback in person after an exhibition has ended. We cannot engage in feedback and individual photo requests during an exhibition though artist are always free to visit during opening hours and take their own photos.
During an exhibition our priority becomes the gallery and the customers and visitors who walk in. Social media has its purpose but not everyone uses it, therefore, the balance of posting photos for artists to share and like online is not our obligation during a show. We do however want to entice and welcome visitors to the gallery. Any artwork or photo we post on social media is at the full discretion of the gallery. The timing of any posts will be upto the gallery. If you need to contact the gallery for an urgent reason you must telephone the gallery on 01727 569291.
Please ensure you have checked the dates of drop off and collection etc. and that you are certain you can commit to the exhibition dates with the artwork submitted before you submit. Once the exhibition fee has been paid, due to the time spent in admin and marketing this will be non-refundable. If the gallery cancels an exhibition then a full refund will be given.
